Hello all, I am the geekster! You can just call me Neil. Jacob has invited me to write here to discuss all things poker. I wanted to get a quick blurb out there, before he changed his mind. As the title says, I am a geek, I play poker, and well I am new to the site and partially poker. I have only been playing for the last two years. I can blame Chris Moneymaker for my addiction to the game.
I am far from being a “good” player. I can read players, at times. I can totally not read players at times. Sometimes I can bluff strong, others I am passive as a kitty. My game does have some patterns to it, but I try to be unpredictable. I lean toward “rock” like behavior, but I throw in bluffs and loose calls to shake things up.
Lately I have been spending my time at the $6 and $16 NLHE Turbo SNG tables. I have actually been able to run up my roll on PokerStars a bit. This does not mean I am ahead. No sir, I am roughly a grand in the hole, between online and Las Vegas losses. So, once the roll gets over $1500, I will consider myself in the black. Boy do I have a long way to go!
Jacob and I are amateurs with big poker dreams. We will talk about poker from our own perspectives, so take everything with a grain of salt. Jacob is more advanced in his game than me already. We will work off of each other and learn from each other. It is a marathon, and we are just now starting to run. How many more analogies can I throw at you?
So sit back, enjoy the ride with us. Don’t be afraid to leave a comment or two. How else will we know that we are donkeys? Yes we are donkeys, there it has been said. Now, sit down at that poker table and play!
